The Parkway at Babcock Ranch: Six Incredible Parks Connected by One Walkable Trail

If you told me there was a place in Florida where you could visit six completely different parks without ever getting back in your car, I probably wouldn't have believed you.

But that's exactly what we found at The Parkway in Babcock Ranch.

As a Florida family, we've explored playgrounds, parks, and nature destinations all over the state. This is one of the most unique family-friendly features we've ever experienced. Every park has its own personality, and they're all connected by a beautiful paved trail that's perfect for walking, biking, scooters, or strollers.

Whether you spend an hour here or make a full day of it, this is one of those places that keeps kids excited from beginning to end.

Bluebird Park

Our first stop was Bluebird Park, and it immediately set the tone for the rest of the adventure.

This creative bluebird-themed playground is packed with slides, swings, climbing elements, and obstacle-style play features that encourage kids to move, climb, and explore. It doesn't feel like a copy-and-paste neighborhood playground. Every detail feels thoughtfully designed, and our kids wanted to try everything.

HilLcrest Park

Just a short walk down the trail is Hillcrest Park, and this one completely surprised us.

The centerpiece is a two-story observation tower that gives you a bird's-eye view of the surrounding area. But getting back down is where the fun begins.

Instead of simply walking down the hill, kids can climb through giant nets and race down long hillside slides all the way to the bottom. It's one of the most creative playground concepts we've seen and was just as much fun for the adults as it was for the kids.

The Lagoon

Between playground adventures, you'll come across one of the most peaceful stops along The Parkway.

The 3.3-acre lagoon features:

• A fully stocked fishing lakeA fishing pier

It's a beautiful place to slow down, watch the wildlife, cast a line, or simply enjoy a quiet break before heading to the next playground.

Explorers Park

If I had to pick a favorite, Explorers Park might be it.

This is home to the iconic giant alligator playground that you've probably seen in photos.

Kids can actually climb and play inside the massive alligator, but that's only the beginning.

The entire playground celebrates Florida's natural and cultural history with imaginative play features inspired by:

• Airboats

• Fishing boats

It feels like equal parts playground, museum, and work of art. Every corner has something new to discover.

Bark Park

Families with dogs will appreciate the next stop.

Bark Park is a dedicated dog park where four-legged family members get their own place to run, play, and socialize while everyone else enjoys the trail.

It's a thoughtful addition that makes The Parkway feel like it was designed for the entire family.

Palmetto Park

The final stop is Palmetto Park, and it finishes the experience on a high note.

Our kids immediately ran to the splash pad, which is perfect for cooling off on a warm Florida day.

The woodland-themed playground is full of creative climbing and play structures, and one feature really stood out to me:

The basketball courts are covered by a massive shade structure.

As Florida parents, we couldn't stop talking about it. It seems like such a simple idea, yet it's surprisingly rare. It's details like this that make the entire community feel thoughtfully designed for families.

Why We Loved The Parkway

What makes this place so special isn't just that there are six parks.

It's that they all feel completely different.

Instead of driving from playground to playground, you simply keep walking or biking and discover something new around every bend. One minute you're climbing observation towers, the next you're fishing by the water, exploring a giant alligator, cooling off at a splash pad, or letting the dog run free.

It turns a typical playground visit into an adventure.

Planning Your Visit

If you're visiting Babcock Ranch, I highly recommend setting aside at least a few hours to explore The Parkway.

Bring:

• Bikes, scooters, or a stroller (optional, but fun)

• Water bottles

• Sunscreen

• Fishing gear if you'd like to fish the lagoon

While each park is worth visiting on its own, experiencing all six together is what makes this place so memorable.

For our family, The Parkway wasn't just another collection of playgrounds. It was one of the most creative, family-focused park systems we've found anywhere in Florida, and we'd happily spend another day exploring it all over again.

Make a Day Of It

There is a Publix nearby, where you can grab some picnic food and snacks. We also enjoy stopping at Founder's Sqaure in downtown Babcock Ranch. There is a great little ice cream shop and yummy food at Slater's Goods & Provisions. We like to order from the counter, and then grab a table right on the patio.
